This video shows the spot drilling of multiple holes on multiple surfaces. All of the holes were identified using OPEN MIND’s hyperMILL® CAM software Feature Recognition capability. The feature recognition identifies all of the holes characteristics and automatically creates the local work coordinate system based on the hole geometry. This added intelligence simplifies the user’s programming tasks and also the chances for mistakes. OPEN MIND’s advanced postprocessor technology then incorporates all of these holes into one machining sequences, including transition moves from hole to hole, with collision checking and without going to safety planes. This process can save a large portion of the cycle time compared to other systems. Also, using advanced functions on the machine tool, the drill sequences can use controller canned cycles defined on local workplanes. Less
