This video shows the machining of a tire mould segment using OPEN MIND’s specialty tire bundle. The tire package within hyperMILL® CAM software provides great efficiency to tire mold applications, taking advantage of repeating pitch patterns, varying segment widths, and many other tire-specific features such as sipes, vent holes, and tread-wear indicators. The machining approach is largely based on standard hyperMILL methods, with postprocessing through the “tire clock” utility to automate the generation of most of the instructions, and to delete wasted air cuts that could be possible on different width tire segments.
